On October 11, 2018, Mrs Audrey Rustichelli (Head of the Technologies & IP Department at MNKS) held a conference at our offices regarding the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), effective May 25, 2018, a ruling intended to protect the data of citizens within the European Union.
According to the new “General Data Protection regulation”, companies which process personal data have to follow certain obligations. This regulation transforms the way companies must manage and protect the personal data they collect.
Companies are expected to carry out an internal audit of their current personal data processing practices and to put in place the necessary measures. Penalties for non-compliance of this regulation may go up to 20 million euros, or 4% of the annual worldwide turnover, so these new obligations are not to be taken lightly.
After a brief introduction held by Mr Nico Hansen, Managing Director of our company, Mrs Audrey Rustichelli gave detailled information on GDPR, explained the employer’s obligations and illustrated this with many examples.
A drink was offered to all participants at the end of the conference.
